How do we request a data feed from Bright?
Please contact Bright Content Licensing team to begin the process for obtaining a data feed.
How do we get Web API access for an existing feed?
Please contact Bright Content Licensing team to request Web API access for your feed. There is no additional charge, no new contract is required, and credentials are attached to the existing data feed, providing the identical access rights.
Can we use, or a required to use, a custom User-Agent to connect to Web API?
You do not need a custom User-Agent, we provide a User-Agent for the header you can use, just like RETS access. If you wish to use a custom User-Agent for your application, please request this when signing up for Web API (new or existing).
How do we update our information for Bright?
If you need your contact information updated, including new contacts for communications, please contact Data Support.
Who is our contact for Bright?
Your contact within Bright is Data Support. Our team uses this inbox to communicate with vendors, like yourself.
Are we allowed to have concurrent connections, aka log in with same set of credentials at the same time?
At this time, your credentials will allow you to access the feed from more than one access point. This is only permitted in the event you need to pull data concurrently to support your product.
How many photos are allowed in Bright?
We allow up to 150 photos per listing.
Can I store the Image URLs?
Yes.
How do I ensure the listing photos are in the correct order?
When querying the BrightMedia resource, you can use the $orderby=MediaDisplayOrder asc parameters to ensure you are displaying the photos in the requested order.
Can I get unwatermarked photos for listings?
Bright can provide unwatermarked photos, but this is limited to Broker-only data products where each brokerage is allowed access to their own listings' original photos for their internal products only. Please contact Content Licensing for more information. Additional fees may apply.
Why is an Agent no longer available in our data feed?
Bright only provides the member status of Active. If the agent is no longer active in Bright, their Agent information will not be available in your data feed.
I see resources and fields are available in our metadata and this portal, but I do not have access to retrieve this data. Can I get access to this data?
Bright’s metadata displays all fields in the system. Bright’s metadata is not role based, so depending on the type of Product you maintain will not have all the resources or fields that are represented in metadata. So while a field may be visible, you might not be able to query it and it may return *null *data.
Does your RETS Server require an IP Address? I’m not able to connect, do you restrict on IP?
Bright does not restrict access by IP Address.
What is your WebAPI server limitation?
We request that you limit your searches to a manageable level and perform your searches in one session without multiple logins. Use the header option for max page size to page through large result sets.
Why do I not get any results when searching on Property SubType?
Bright has deprecated many of the picklist items such as Cabin, Condominium, Farm, Manufactured Home, Mobile Home, Manufactured on Land, Ranch, Single Family. These subtypes can be found in the following fields: StructureDesignType, OwnershipInterest, ArchitecturalStyle.
How do I query for Agents and Offices?
Agents and Offices can be located in the BrightMembers Resource and the BrightOffices Resource.
Can a ListingID change for the same Property Record?
Yes. While this is rare some agents may have inserted the wrong County when entering a listing. Bright’s Listing IDs are constructed based on the State and County location followed by a set of numbers. If the Listing is located in Bucks County, PA, the ID will be constructed with the first 2 letters of the state followed by the first 2 letters of the county followed by a sequence of numbers. Example for Bucks County, PA: PABU516750
(Should an agent change the County that was entered the ID will change for the same property record.)
The ListingKey is a unique identifier for a property entity and does not change, and for this reason should be used to track a listing within your systems.
How do I determine if an Open House is Virtual or In Person?
Within the Open House Resource there is a LookUp field known as OpenHouseMethod. The picklist contains 3 values: In Person Only, In Person and Live Video, Live Video Only.
How often do I need to refresh my data to remove listings that have changed statuses and are no longer available in my data feed?
All data should be updated at a minimum of every 12 hours, as per NAR policy.
